By accessing and using Solar Ruler (“the site”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.
Use of the Site
You agree not to misuse the site, including but not limited to:
- Attempting to access restricted systems
- Interfering with site performance
- Reproducing site functionality without permission
Data Accuracy & Liability
Solar Ruler uses publicly available aurora data. We do not guarantee the accuracy or real-time precision of displayed information. The site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
You acknowledge that aurora visibility depends on factors outside the scope of this site, including but not limited to cloud cover, weather, light pollution, and geomagnetic conditions.
Aurora Alert Subscriptions
Solar Ruler offers a free optional email alert service that notifies subscribers when the Kp index reaches a chosen threshold. By subscribing to aurora alerts, you agree to the following:
- You are providing your email address voluntarily and consent to receive aurora alert emails from Solar Ruler.
- You will receive at most one (1) alert email per 24-hour period, regardless of how many times the Kp index fluctuates above your threshold.
- Alert emails are informational only. We make no guarantee that aurora will be visible from your location, as visibility depends on local cloud cover, latitude, light pollution, and other factors beyond our control.
- You may unsubscribe at any time, instantly, using the unsubscribe link included in every alert email. No account or login is required to unsubscribe.
- We will never sell, share, or rent your email address to any third party for any purpose.
- We reserve the right to discontinue the alert service at any time with reasonable notice.
Third-Party Services
Google AdSense or analytics tools may be used to measure engagement, serve ads, or improve performance. These services may use cookies, subject to their own privacy policies.
Aurora alert emails are delivered via Resend. Email delivery is subject to Resend's service availability.
Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the site indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
